Key features of the Sitemap Checker

If you already have an XML sitemap, Netpeak Spider can validate it and check sitemap. The program examines XML sitemaps for over 30 issues by the Standard Sitemap Protocol. Netpeak Spider can detect broken sitemaps, missing links in sitemaps, duplicate links in sitemaps, and improper URL format in sitemaps, among other issues. Aside from the standard sitemap checks, there are several modes in which you can use Spider’s Sitemap Checker to view additional attributes of your sitemap.

URL mode

Website sitemap is an XML-formatted file for search engine bots that lists all pages on the site. It is intended to make it easier for search engines to crawl and index your site. The first mode of the Sitemap Validator allows you to list all of the URLs included in your Sitemap xml.

List of URLs in Sitemap.xml

This mode of the sitemap crawler indicates how many URL pages were discovered in all sitemap files during the sitemap validation. This excludes materials in other media, such as photos. This report provided by Sitemap Validator is useful for comparing the number of pages detected in sitemap files to the real number of pages on the site and indexed in search engines. This may help identify multiple issues quickly. Some sites, for example, may not have removed sitemap pages that have been deleted or disabled in the site's administration panel. As a result, the crawler budget will be reduced, and the site's ranking may suffer. If the search engine index has much fewer pages than the sitemap, this may signal that the site is having indexing troubles. Or that the sitemap is poorly designed and contains redundant pages.

Attributes mode will allow you to inspect the following sitemap attributes:URL of the page's location Date of the most recent file modification Sitemap Changefreq is the frequency at which the page gets updated. Priority of the page compared to other pages in the Sitemap Priority tab

Sitemap.xml Issue Reports

In the tool's Issue Reports mode, all validation errors are listed in a separate tab on the right. This tool's errors can be found in the official specification for the Standard Sitemap Protocol, which is backed by major search engines, including Google, Yandex, and Bing.
